Did You Know? The October Surprise!

Did you know the East Side Union High School District sponsored another Parent Empowerment Conference last month? Did you know the spirit of Kumbaya pervaded the event? Word has it more than one board member and a few administrators decided to attend and mend fences with the voting body politic. Did you know there’s a board election next November?

Speaking of politics, did you know a table at the Parent Empowerment Conference was set up for representatives from the office of State Assemblyman and former ESUHSD superintendent the honorable Joe Coto? Did you know the key word in that last sentence was “honorable”? Or perhaps “politics.” Seems either a trustee, the current interim superintendent, or the board president himself was asked the hard question: why was Joe Coto allowed to set up a table at a district event? Wasn’t he, after all, given the lion’s share of the blame for all district woes financial by both trustees and East Side’s most recent former supe, Esperanza Zendejas?

Did you know the answer is deliciously worth repeating, even if we can only narrow it down to one of three possible spinmeisters (Nunez, Mann, or Herrera)? The gist: the district was perhaps too quick to judge the former superintendent and needs to put forth an effort to mend that relationship.

Did you, faithful reader, ever think the ESUHSD would cop to a mistake? Did you really think the district’s financial problems were real?

Did you know Coto did not attend the event? We don’t blame him. The person we blame wasn’t there either, but she did manage to receive an award for manufacturing a crisis by destroying Coto’s reputation last month () We thought you’d like to know.
